I am currently focused on breaking into the industry while working on my craft every day.
I am a TCK, born in Hong Kong to Nepalese parents and... legally British with an American sounding accent. Besides coming up with answers to 'Where are you from?', I like to think about life (maybe due to my INFJ personality), listen to podcasts, go for walks (while listening to a podcast or thinking about life).
When I don't want to think too much, I am probably meditating or some combination of —— working out, watching football, playing mobile games, sketching, reading books, mangas or watching Korean TV shows.
Found something to genuinely dedicate my life to.
While pursuing an undergraduate in computer science and business, I had my first aha moment in design thanks to Don Norman’s book, The Design of Everyday Things. It made me appreciate the thoughts and effort behind everyday objects that I always took for granted.
The more I learned about the field, the more it resonated with me and inspired me to pursue this career wholeheartedly after graduation. However, I had limited design knowledge, so I dedicated some time to build a solid foundation.
Design. Design. Design.
Ever since, my journey has been filled with online courses, tutorials, blogs, design challenges, ruptured Achilles tendon, recovery, freelancing, burnouts, lockdowns, meditation, self-reflections, imposter syndrome, etc., which have all contributed towards cultivating a design mindset.
While the situation has been less than ideal due to personal injury and COVID-19, I hope my diverse skillset can eventually provide value and help solve interesting problems.
________ Designer
I am not sure what the official title or the prefix to the designer will evolve into, but I aspire to continuously learn and solve complex problems in various forms to help create a meaningful future where technology empowers humans and humans enhance technology to discover new possibilities and better the world.
